Solutia Expands Production Capacity At Its Soborg Plant
l The Resins and Additives business unit of Solutia announced plans to expand production capacity at its plant in Soborg, Denmark. The new capacity will help meet growing demand for the company’s Resydrol waterborne alkyd resins, which are used to make a variety of products such as outdoor wood and industrial maintenance coatings.
“This new capacity will extend our leadership in the rapidly-growing market for environmentally-friendly water-borne resin technology,” said Manfred Schrod, worldwide manufacturing director for resins and additives. “Today’s environmental regulations are creating new demand for coatings products that protect surfaces while releasing very few, if any, solvents into the environment. This new production capacity will help Solutia meet that demand in the Nordic countries.”
When the expansion project is complete, the Soborg plant will have a Resydrol production capacity of about 3000 metric tons per year. Start-up is scheduled for March 2002. The facility has earned a number of environmental and quality certifications, including EN ISO 9001, EN ISO 14001 and the EMAS/Eco-Audit in 2000.
